1958: KPIX's historic live broadcast of boy's open-heart surgery in San Francisco

KPIX aired a one-of-a-kind live broadcast of open-heart surgery in 1958, that of an eight-year-old boy born with a heart defect, Tommy Hunter of Oakland. Doctors from Stanford wanted to show the latest in modern medicine, a heart-lung machine that made the surgery possible. Anne Makovec reports.
